That is what I always try to instill to the minds of my students whenever I assign them to do homework, or an academic paper such as research and term paper. They would not give me the assurance of submitting original works because we all know that not all of them will be honest and original. Originality has always been a big issue in writing, especially in the academe since not all students can really write; some would resort to cheating lest be marked ‘F’. What students do not realize is that, academic papers are a test to their skills and grasp of the lesson taught. These papers do not primarily favor professors, but the students themselves. But since not all students can come up with a good write up, and not everyone can write, they resort to plagiarism – however sugarcoated and disguised.
