Evangelist's Wife's Body Reportedly Kept Like Frozen Food

An Alabaman evangelist named Anthony Hopkins was apparently arrested last week when his wife—who'd been missing for three years—was reportedly discovered in his freezer. (Now, why does that name sound so familiar…?) Local police reportedly found the body of what they believe to be Hopkins' wife, a mother of eight, and reportedly arrested him on a murder charge as he preached at a church in southern Alabama. We're not sure what the subject of the sermon was. News reports say he's now sittin...

Gears, BrowserPlus, and Web 3.0, baby

Speculative tech journalism is wrought with some pretty bone-headed predictions. I’m fully aware of that. Every time you toss your hat in the ring to offer your opinion, you’re opening yourself up to the possibility of being as wrong as the guy who said, “No one will need more than 637 kb of memory for a personal computer. 640K ought to be enough for anybody.” Despite all of that, I’d like to tell you about what the future of the Web will be. What Web 3.0 might look like. But first, so...

Guy Kawasaki, the original Apple evangelist and a true entrepreneur, has made the Most Public Index, Silicon Valley, which identifies the 50 most influential individuals in Silicon Valley/San Francisco. It’s the brainchild of NowPublic, a “crowd-powered media” site. Kawsaski came in at number eight on the list.

Bond denied for Ala. man in body-in-freezer case

A judge denied bond Thursday for a part-time evangelist charged with murder in the death of his wife, a mother of eight whose body was kept in a freezer for at least three years. This undated photo provided by Mobile County (Ala.) Sheriff's office shows Anthony Hopkins. Police believe a body found in a small-time evangelist's home freezer is his wife and a mother of eight, and arrested him on a murder charge as he preached at a south Alabama church.

LEE VALLEY GROWS UNDER THE POWER OF HIS WORD

LEE VALLEY GROWS UNDER "THE POWER OF HIS WORD"

It was a glorious and exciting Sabbath afternoon for members of the Lee Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church in North London, and also a joy for dozens of visitors, mainly friends and relations of 24 new believers who chose to take up the Cross of the Saviour. These were the first fruits of a well attended evangelistic campaign, the first ever by the church since its organisation in October 2006. The four-week campaign had attracted unprecedented attendance at the young church but the atmosphere ...

How to Scoop Fortune at its own Conference ... and Other Notes from Brainstorm

How to Scoop Fortune at its own Conference ... and Other Notes from Brainstorm

I popped over to the start of Fortune's Brainstorm conference primarily because they said Sir Martin Sorrell, who I consider to be one of the world's savviest media executives along with Rupert Murdoch, would be there. Unfortunately, Sir Martin couldn't make it because he is engaged in a multi-billion acquisition. Too bad, this is someone worth watching. Check out Reuter's Eric Auchard's interview with Sir Martin. I love the end part when Sir Martin tells Eric "good luck with your merger." He w...

Book Review - What Is A Healthy Church Member?

Book Review - What Is A Healthy Church Member?

There are many books available today that address the needs, the responsibilities and the health of the local church. While The Purpose Driven Church is probably the best-known of these, there are plenty of others as well, many of which were written in the aftermath of that book’s unparalleled success. To this point the books have been largely focused at pastors and church leaders. Where many books have been written describing a healthy church (among the most useful of which are Mark Dever’s...

2gether08 - a geek meets people who want to change the world for good

The last two days an old and historic school in London, England hosted 2gether08, a "festival of ideas, popular technologies and progress". Predictably during Wimbledon season, the weather was a glorious English summer as the photo of Steve Moore's final "thank you" talk shows: The event had an immense amount of illustruous sponsors, with Channel4 being the leader and also covering the whole event and happenings around it. The short tagline of the event was "solving bigger problems", the larger ...
